FieldRoutes in Mobile app

FieldRoutes calls it: FieldRoutes mobile app, PestRoutes Sales, Mobile Sales

From a read-only look at the FieldRoutes account on 2026-11-02 and its official manuals. Each line ends with its evidence: Observed in the account, Documented in a manual, or not tested. Capture numbers link to the screen below. All of FieldRoutes across the 20 blocks

FieldRoutes has mobile apps for technicians (service) and sales reps (Mobile Sales, sold as the SalesRoutes add-on). The research looked only at the office (desktop) side: the Admin > Preferences > Mobile settings, the mobile permissions in access profiles, mobile push-notification choices on the User Card, and settings elsewhere that say how something behaves in the app (checklists, bundles, service types, sales aides, two-factor login). No phone or tablet app was opened, no mobile session was run and nothing was sent. The research has 30 screenshots that touch this block (6 placed here and 24 from other blocks), all desktop configuration screens or staff location maps.

In short

  • Everything here is office configuration. Native mobile behavior (offline work, sync, photo and signature capture, scanning, navigation) was not tested. The research rates confidence for mobile as low.
  • Admin > Preferences > Mobile has seven entries: Default Settings, On My Way Notification, Competitors, Diagram Markers, Objections, Preset Notes and Spray Rigs.
  • Mobile Default Settings split into Sales and Service. Service settings are completion gates for the technician: block completion when there is a balance, require products, require the interior-serviced choice, require scanned equipment confirmation, plus collection and payment rules.
  • Access profiles have a "FieldRoutes Mobile App" permission group (override equipment scan, minimum contract length, payment/agreement prerequisites and availability windows; show Feedback, Timer, Sales Feed and Dashboard menus) and ten mobile dashboard widgets for sales reps.
  • Observed: the SalesRoutes (Mobile Sales) subscription is Frozen in this account and changes need FieldRoutes support. That does not freeze the rest of the CRM.
  • Observed: On My Way and Live Technician View controls are disabled although the page says SMS is configured and the Customer Portal is on. The cause is unknown.
  • Two-factor login is supported only in the newer FieldRoutes mobile app, not in the older PestRoutes Sales and Tech apps (observed tooltip).

How FieldRoutes does it

Technician visit gates (observed settings, not run). The Service defaults decide what the app enforces before a technician can complete a visit: Block Completion if There is Balance, Require Products to Complete Appt, Require Interior Serviced Selection and Require Scanned Equipment Last Four Digit Confirmation. They also limit collections (Max Over Collect, Enforce Payment Hold Date, Enforce Max Monthly Charge), allow rescheduling, switch push notifications and auto-apply collected payments. A permission "Mark Equipment as Manually Inspected" lets a user skip the scan when scanning is impossible or unnecessary. 183-mobile-service-default-editor, 203-access-control-profile-editor

Checklists in the app (observed settings). An Appointment Checklist is bound to a service type and shown to the technician prior to start or before completion. It can be required, require a signed agreement, apply to initial-only or all appointments, and need final approval by none, the technician or the customer. Sections ask for Initials or a Single Tap. The help says checklists capture extra customer signatures or technician acknowledgement of steps. Display, capture and stored proof were not tested. 151-settings-appointment-checklist-form, 152-settings-checklist-section

Mobile sales (observed settings; add-on frozen). Sales defaults decide how reps book work: require a map code, appointment flexibility (flexible on route versus fixed to spot, for initial-only or all), default recurring and initial service types, default customer source, require a valid card/ACH for AutoPay, require a signed agreement and a payment method for scheduling, alert the office when a contract is signed in the app, show nearby appointment distance and offer a "technician earliest available spot" shortcut. Reps can only sell service types, bundles and add-ons marked visible to sales reps. A Service Type warning says default add-ons in invoice templates are unsupported for Mobile Sales users and may cause minimum-charge issues. Reps use Competitors, Objections and Sales Aides lists. When signing in the SalesRoutes app or the portal, a configurable acknowledgement appears above the terms initials (standard text if blank). 182-mobile-sales-default-editor, 141-settings-bundle-form, 312-communication-section-31-editor

En-route message (observed; disabled). The technician triggers an On My Way text when driving to a visit; Live Technician View adds a link showing proximity. The page says SMS must be configured, the technician must allow app location access, and the Customer Portal is needed only for Live Technician View. The message text has placeholders for customer names, ETA, office, service, address, technician and live-view link. Both checkboxes and Save are disabled even though the page reports SMS configured and portal on. A separate SMS registration-error banner exists in the account; the research does not tie the two together. 184-mobile-on-my-way

Push notifications (observed choices). Each user picks mobile push categories on the User Card: Sales Alerts, Filled Spot, Changed Appointments, Team Messages, Admin Messages and New Purchase (for Buy Online Service). Device registration and delivery were not tested. 550-owned-user-notifications

Login security (observed; documented). Two-factor is set per office, then per group (office staff, technicians, sales reps), with a 7-day setup period from first login and a re-verification snooze. It is off in this office. Documented: enrollment uses a smartphone authenticator app; one manual passage on disabling for an individual wrongly describes all-user scope, so disable precedence and recovery need clarification. 222-office-two-factor-settings-editor

Field data back to the office (documented or public claims). The Contracts vs Forms manual says mobile-uploaded diagrams and images can populate Forms; it does not document this for Contracts. The commercial product page says technicians can report conditions from mobile and pass notes and recommendations to the office. Location reports are meant to show where staff were, from field location data; no markers or tracks appeared for the captured day. 113-reporting-locations

What the research did not prove

  • No mobile app was opened. Offline work, conflict recovery, sync, photo/diagram/signature capture, checklist and scan enforcement, payment collection and navigation are all untested.
  • Supported devices, which app generation is licensed, and the support boundaries are unknown.
  • Mobile Sales is Frozen; no mobile-sales flow can be trialed until it is activated.
  • On My Way and Live Technician View are disabled for an unknown reason; no message was sent and no location shared.
  • Push notification delivery and device registration were not tested.
  • Location reports showed no markers or tracks; whether the app reports location in this account is unknown.
  • Rep Spy (Mobile), Max Over Collect units and the map code are not defined.
  • Two-factor enrollment, reset, lost-phone recovery and group precedence were not tested.
  • Acceptance tests suggested by the research: a technician's full working day on supported devices with poor connectivity, retry and conflict recovery and required evidence; a separate mobile-sales test; two-factor on the supported app generation; Live Technician View tested separately from a basic On My Way message; how scan exceptions, balance gates and manual overrides are authorized and audited.

Ideas for Our CRM

Agent proposals, not decisions
  • Proposal: keep a short, explicit list of mobile completion gates (balance, products, interior, equipment scan) as office settings, each with an audited override permission, as FieldRoutes does.
  • Proposal: separate technician and sales app policies into two settings groups.
  • Proposal: show why a mobile feature is disabled; FieldRoutes disabled On My Way with no stated reason.
  • Proposal: support two-factor in every app generation we ship, to avoid FieldRoutes' new-versus-legacy gap.
