FieldRoutes in Chemical use and state reporting

FieldRoutes calls it: Product, Concentrated, Measurement Type

From a read-only look at the FieldRoutes account on 2026-11-02 and its official manuals. Each line ends with its evidence: Observed in the account, Documented in a manual, or not tested. Capture numbers link to the screen below. All of FieldRoutes across the 20 blocks

In FieldRoutes this block has three parts. First, a product catalog of the chemicals and other treatment products a company uses, with units, dilution and regulatory metadata. Second, a set of Inventory pages under Reporting that track and hand out stock. Third, state pesticide-use reports built from recorded applications. Small dictionaries support it: application methods, target areas and target issues, spray rigs and vendors. The research has 33 screenshots for this block (23 placed here and 10 from other blocks). They cover the Admin setup pages, all seven Inventory pages and all four State Chemical report formats. The product catalog is populated (39 products, most with an active-ingredient label); everything else is configuration or empty report states. No product was saved, no stock was moved, and no application was recorded or reported.

In short

  • Products is a treatment catalog with rich metadata: EPA number, manufacturer, three kinds of unit (concentrated, diluted, inventory), dilution and mix ratio, SDS and label links, application method and rate, Chemical or Non-Chemical type, target areas and issues, a Sentricon bait flag, "Available To WDO" and a California pest-control use code (Observed, 172-settings-product-form).
  • Inventory is an operating tool that sits under Reporting, not only an analytics view. Manage Inventory and Distribute Inventory both have an Update Inventory button that changes stock (Observed, not executed, 106-reporting-inventory, 499-distribute-inventory-revisited).
  • Stock moves under five change types: New, Returned, Correction, Used and Distributed. Stock goes from the office to employees through Distribute Inventory (Observed, 109-inventory-changes).
  • State Chemical Reports offers Standard, California, New York and Ohio formats. California school and day-care reporting has its own page (Observed, 111-inventory-state-chemical, 112-inventory-california-school).
  • The state formats rendered, but none produced a valid filing. California rendered for one county with zero applications. New York and Ohio stopped on an invalid office license warning (Observed, 501-state-chemical-california, 502-state-chemical-new-york, 503-state-chemical-ohio).
  • Service Types tie products to services. Allowed Products limits which products a service may use (blank means all). A separate setting can hide products used from the customer (Observed, 135-settings-service-type-form).
  • Stored regulatory fields are metadata only. They do not prove compliant reporting, safe use or label accuracy (research caution, repeated across the dump).

Their words for this block 21

Product: A catalog entry for a treatment material, either Chemical or Non-Chemical, with units, dilution and regulatory metadata Observed 172-settings-product-form
Concentrated / Diluted / Inventory Unit: The unit of the product as bought, as mixed and as counted in stock. Options span volume, weight, count and length Observed 172-settings-product-form
Measurement Type: The unit class: Volume, Weight, Unit or Length. It was disabled in the new-product form Observed 172-settings-product-form
Default Dilution / Active Percentage / Mix Ratio: Stored concentration and mixture settings. They are not safe-use advice Observed 172-settings-product-form
Dilution Rate Calculator: A helper on the Products page. You enter two quantities with units and it shows a percentage Observed 545-dilution-calculator-clear
Application Method: How a product is applied. The catalog has equipment-like methods and application patterns. It is not a list of physical devices Observed 146-settings-application-methods
Application Rate: Rate metadata stored on the product Observed 172-settings-product-form
Target Area / Target Issue: Where a treatment is applied (a room, an exterior spot, a device site) and which pest or problem it treats. A Target Area is not a routing territory (false friend) Observed 542-target-area-editor-clear, 543-target-issues-clear
Is Sentricon Bait: Marks a product as Sentricon bait. The integration behavior is unknown Observed 172-settings-product-form
Available To WDO: A flag that makes a product available to WDO (termite) work. The research does not expand the acronym or the workflow on this form; see Termite and WDO Observed 172-settings-product-form
CA Pest Control Code: California use classification: structural, landscape, right-of-way, public health, vertebrate, fumigation and regulatory Observed 172-settings-product-form
Spray Rig: A named piece of application equipment with a required license number. The editor shows no vehicle, GPS or technician link, so nothing shows it is a vehicle record; the list was empty Observed 195-mobile-spray-rig-form
Vendor: A plain label list (description, scope, visibility) with no supplier contact or purchasing fields; the list was empty. Inventory reports have a Vendors filter (only "No Vendor Assigned" offered) and a Vendor sub-group; that these use this list is likely but unverified Observed 253-vendors, 254-vendor-editor, 108-inventory-chemical-tracking; link unverified
Update Inventory: The button that changes stock on Manage Inventory and Distribute Inventory Observed, not executed 106-reporting-inventory
Distributed To: The employee who receives distributed stock. The picker groups employees as office, tech or sales Observed 499-distribute-inventory-revisited
Change Type: New / Returned / Correction / Used / Distributed: The movement types of stock Observed 109-inventory-changes
On truck: The stock amount and value an employee holds, shown in the Employee Usage Report Observed 110-inventory-employee-usage
State Chemical Reports: Pesticide-use reports in a state format: Standard, California, New York or Ohio. The Standard and California heading is "Monthly Summary Pesticide Use Report"; Ohio's is "Summary Chemical Usage Report" Observed 500-state-chemical-templates–503-state-chemical-ohio
Include Applications of Amount 0: Decides whether zero-amount applications are counted in usage and state reports. Default is No Observed 111-inventory-state-chemical
Export to PRL: An extra export button on the New York format only Observed 502-state-chemical-new-york
Physical Location (office): The UI says this is "the physical location where your chemicals and materials are located". It is also the default start and end point for route optimization Observed 200-office-invoice-address-editor

How FieldRoutes does it

Setting up products (observed as forms only, nothing saved).

  1. An admin adds a product under Products.
  2. The product gets an identity: name, label, EPA number and manufacturer.
  3. It gets units, dilution, active percentage, mix ratio, application method and rate, and the Chemical or Non-Chemical type.
  4. It is linked to target areas and target issues, plus the Sentricon, WDO and California code flags.
  5. Active ingredients are added through an Add control. That child editor was not opened.

Two different help prompts appear. On the Products page a step dialog ("Adding a new product || Step 1") asks "Would you like help adding a new product?" with Yes, No and Close (173-product-onboarding-help). A separate "Need help adding Products?" banner with "Click 'Products' to get started!" appears on other Service Related pages such as Condition Types and Service Types. Neither was followed; dismissing creates nothing. Merge Products exists but was not run, so its rules and its effect on history are unknown. (admin findings)

Linking products to services (observed configuration).

  • Each Service Type has an Allowed Products list. The UI states that a blank selection allows all products.
  • Each Service Type has a "Suppress Products Used from Cust." Yes/No setting. Which customer outputs it changes is unverified.
  • The Service Types list has a per-row Product Template action. Its child editor was not opened. (135-settings-service-type-form, admin controls)

Field use (configuration observed, runtime untested).

  • Mobile Service defaults include "Require Products to Complete Appt", so a technician may need a product record before a visit can be completed (183-mobile-service-default-editor).
  • Spray Rigs define a rig and its license number. No assignment to a technician, vehicle or chemical use was observed.
  • The research did not test native mobile completion or inventory posting. (assessment)

Stock movement (observed screens, all empty, no update executed).

  1. The office sees stock in Manage Inventory. The grid has name, manufacturer, vendor, in stock, inventory change, reason, notes, value, unit value and updated amount. The office adjusts stock with Update Inventory.
  2. The office hands stock to employees in Distribute Inventory. It sets a distribution amount and a Distributed To employee, then uses Update Inventory.
  3. Movement is recorded as New, Returned, Correction, Used or Distributed.
  4. The Chemical Tracking Report shows movement and value over a period: starting quantity and value, increase, decrease, correction, current quantity and value, and unit value, with a totals row.
  5. The Inventory Changes Report lists changes by day, week or month. Its help text says the Employee sub-group always shows Returned and Distributed, and the Vendor sub-group only shows New Inventory. These grouping scopes matter when you reconcile stock.
  6. The Employee Usage Report (grid titled "Technician Usage Report") is filtered by employees and lists rows per product (Name, Manufacturer): distributed quantity and value, used quantity and value, number of applications, and amount and value on truck, with value totals. It was empty. (reporting findings)

State reporting (observed rendered states, no filing).

  1. Choose a State format and a date range.
  2. Narrow by employees, customer IDs, manufacturers, products, states, divisions, flags, license numbers, counties and type.
  3. Generate the report, then Export to Excel or Print Report. New York adds Export to PRL.

What each format showed:

  • Standard rendered only its heading.
  • California rendered the state's monthly summary pesticide use form, filtered to one county. It has operator ID, license number, county, month and year, and per product the manufacturer, EPA or California registration number, total used, number of applications, site treated and acres or units. Total applications were 0.
  • New York and Ohio showed an "invalid office license number, must be 5 digits" warning. The license was not changed.
  • Ohio shows an empty table with page size (25/50/100/250/500) and page-number controls. Its counter reads "1 to 0 of 0"; treat this as empty paging, not one result.

The California School & Day Care Report is a separate page with Export To PDF. Its School Report table lists name, address, sub-property type, county, date, location, manufacturer, chemical name, EPA number, amount and pest control code. (reporting findings)

What the research did not prove

  • No product, application method, spray rig or vendor was saved. Merge Products was not run.
  • The active-ingredient child editor was not opened. The SDS and label links were not opened or validated.
  • Stored EPA, label, dilution and California code fields are not proof of regulatory compliance, safe use, label accuracy or legal reporting.
  • Calculator: the result line is cut off in both screenshots (174, 545). Conversion accuracy and cross-dimension checks are unverified.
  • Every Inventory grid was empty or zero. No Update Inventory or distribution was run. The research did not show units or value reconciliation, or what happens when you select a product or a recipient.
  • No populated example exists for movement, distribution, application or zero-amount applications. No CSV, Excel, PDF, PRL or Print output was obtained.
  • State reports:
    • Standard rendered a heading only.
    • California covers one county with zero applications, not a statewide report.
    • New York and Ohio are blocked by the license warning.
    • No accepted filing, license validity or specialist acceptance was established.
  • Native mobile product recording and inventory posting were not tested. Spray rig assignment to a technician or vehicle was not seen.
  • Vendors: the list is empty, and whether the inventory Vendors filter reads from it is unverified. It has no procurement workflow.
  • Whether "Available To WDO" or the Sentricon flag drive any workflow is unknown.

Ideas for Our CRM

Agent proposals, not decisions
  • Proposal: keep the product catalog (regulatory metadata and units) separate from stock movements and from per-visit application records, as FieldRoutes does.
  • Proposal: model stock movement with explicit types (new, returned, correction, used, distributed) and an office-to-technician distribution step.
  • Proposal: treat state report formats as per-state templates that need valid license data, and have a business specialist validate each output before calling it compliant (assessment acceptance question).
  • Proposal: in acceptance tests, check application units and inventory reconciliation, required-product enforcement at completion, and offline recovery (assessment acceptance questions).
  • Proposal: decide early whether zero-amount applications count in usage and state reports, since FieldRoutes exposes this as a report switch.
